Portae Lucis in Latin or Sha’aré Orah (שערי אורה), in Hebrew, is usually translated as Gates of Light — entrances to the Light — in English. It is the title of the 13th century Kabbalah classic by Yosef Gikatilla.
Below the Latin words, is written (translated from the Hebrew): This is the gate to Adonai (the Tetragrammaton); righteous ones may come through it. It does not say Only Israel or Only Torah scholars may come through; the righteous ones of the world, from all the peoples on earth, seeking to come close to God and thereby gain God’s favor and friendship are invited to study and learn and live by it.
